Fleur De Lis: A Beautiful French Touch

Fleur de sels are small, pebble-like crystal salt stones. They come in two different forms, fleur de sel amazon and fleur de sel rose. Both varieties are popular, but the fleur de sel amazon is significantly less expensive than the fleur de sel rose. (The reason for this is that most jewelry makers do not use the real fleur de sel as a base material; thus, the stone is relatively more expensive.)

Fleur de sels are created when fine sea salt crystals come together in organic solvents, creating a soft, smooth and somewhat waxy surface. The fleur de sel’s fragile structure is made possible by its very fluid and porous structure. Fleur de sels are sensitive to heat, moisture content, and chemicals such as alcohols, but they are also resistant to corrosion from iron and other metallic ions. This means that it can be used to make both casual and elegant jewelry pieces.

Fleur de sels can be either a natural, semi-precious or synthetic variety. Natural fleur de sel has a very delicate texture. As it is created in nature, the fleur de sel develops a fine, airy structure, which allows it to change color in response to changes in temperature, moisture content, and appearance in light. This is why the stone is commonly used as a precious gemstone. It is also frequently incorporated into jewelry designs.

The semi-precious fleur de sel on the other hand is made in a laboratory. During the harvesting process, the fleur de sel’s translucent crystalline structure is frozen at room temperature. This frozen structure is then treated with potassium hydroxide and magnesium chloride, which creates a rigid fleur de sel. Once harvested, this stone can then undergo a number of processes, including chemical transformation, abrasive sanding, folding, dielectric treatment, electrochemical treatment, and UV exposure. After this process, the stone can once again be processed into jewelry. Many of the fleur de sel stones on the market today are factory produced, but there are some beautiful handcrafted fleur de sel stones that you may find available.

In terms of the fleur de sel’s chemical composition, it contains trace amounts of calcium, boron, magnesium, sodium, titanium, silica, manganese, zinc, copper, and selenium. Although these minerals are extremely delicate and difficult to incorporate into jewelry, these elements make up for their loss via the beauty of the product’s other components. For example, magnesium and sodium are vital in helping the stone create its smooth, flexible crystals, while the presence of zinc and copper helps to keep the crystals from snapping when weighty items are placed on them. When moisture content is low, silicone is used instead of silicon dioxide, which allows the fleur de sel to maintain a more delicate structure.

Fleur de sels are available in many colors and cuts, so finding the right fleur de sel for you should not be a problem. There are fleur de sel necklaces, rings, earrings, pins, bracelets, cufflinks, and even shoes that are crafted from this type of precious stone. If you would prefer to have your fleur de sel created for you, a reputable jeweler or jeweller will be able to assist you.
