Benicia is a waterside city in Solano County, California. It is part of the North Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area. It served as the state’s capital for nearly thirteen months from 1853 to 1854. The population of the city was 26,997 as of the 2010 United States Census.

Benicia’s Waterfront

Benicia’s waterfront is one of the city’s most beautiful and historic areas. Once the center of maritime commerce, this waterfront is a popular destination for outdoor recreation. From the bridge-to-bridge views to the abundant wildlife, the area provides a scenic backdrop for a relaxing day on the water.

The waterfront is home to the Benicia Farmers Market, where local farmers sell their wares. This market is located on the main street of Benecia, right by the water. In addition to fresh produce, you can also purchase handcrafted artwork and specialty foods. There are even inflatable bounce houses for kids to enjoy!

The city’s waterfront was long a dream for residents and city officials. In the early 1970s, the Bay Conservation and Development Commission approved several waterfront projects. Over the years, the permit has been revised 34 times, with the majority of these projects focused on improving open space and passive recreation sites. The city’s Waterfront Restoration Plan focused on preserving open spaces and providing passive recreation opportunities, as well as constructing the First Street Promenade and Peninsula Pier. Another proposal, the Waterfront Park Initiative, rezoned a portion of the waterfront from commercial zoning to open space and proposed building a park on city-owned land south of B Street.

Benicia’s waterfront has a wide variety of recreational opportunities, from fishing to boating. There is a pier at the Benicia Point Pier, which is open to the public, and two boat launches at West Ninth Street and K Street. There are also three kayak and canoe put-ins along the waterfront.

Lindsay Art Glass

The Lindsay Art Glass gallery is an excellent place to see glass blowing, a beautiful old-world art. The glass blowing artist David Lindsay creates beautiful collectibles, which are often featured in Lindsay Art Glass. The gallery features the work of more than twenty artists, and selects pieces based on the craftsmanship and quality of the materials. It also hosts rotating exhibits of local art. The shop is a great place to visit for a unique gift.

The studio is located in downtown Benicia, California. The gallery features hand-blown glass pieces, as well as holiday decorations. There are also classes available for those interested in learning how to blow glass. These classes are open to the public and offer a unique experience. The studio is open Tuesday through Sunday and also offers glassblowing experiences.

Lindsay Art Glass has been in business since 1998. The studio is located at 109 East F Street in downtown Benicia. It is open Sunday through Thursday from 11am to 5pm, and on Fridays from 11am to 7pm. You can also visit Lindsay Art Glass in Concord at 1091 Shary Circle.

While you’re in town, make sure to check out the Benicia Fire Museum. This historical museum was founded in 1981, and it is a wonderful way to learn about the history of the city’s fire department. You’ll also find an impressive collection of historic fire engines and other fire apparatus. One of the oldest fire engines in California, the Phoenix engine, arrived in Benicia in 1820 and served the city until 1923. You’ll also learn about the firemen who saved the city.

Benicia State Recreation Area

The Benicia State Recreation Area is a California state park unit that protects a tidal wetland. It’s located in the Solano County city of Benicia, just two miles west of downtown. The park also borders the Vallejo neighborhood of Glen Cove.

The Benicia State Recreation Area contains about 720 acres of land. It has 2.5 miles of trail. It also has a campsite. Only RVs and other vehicles with trailers can camp in the park, and it costs $6 a day to park. There are restrooms and water fountains available for visitors. Make sure to bring your own garbage bags. Also, keep in mind that coyotes and venomous snakes have been known to roam the area, so bring bug spray.

The state park is home to several species of birds, including a large population of Black Rail and a Short-eared Owl. The state park has two miles of bike paths, and there are several opportunities for birdwatching and fishing. The park is open daily from 8 a.m. to sunset. There are three “Enroute” campsites available for overnight stays. However, these are only for motor homes and vehicles with trailers, and tents are not allowed.

Benicia Fire Museum

The Benicia Volunteer Firemen Incorporated is a volunteer fire service that dates back to 1847. It is the oldest continuous volunteer fire service west of the Mississippi. Its members were selected by their ability and fitness to handle fire engines and other related equipment. The volunteers were very proud of their fire trucks and their high quality. Today, these engines are still being maintained and can be viewed at special events throughout the year.

Rellik Tavern

The Cubs are one of the places to visit in Belize, and the local baseball team plays there. This connection began when local television impresarios, Arthur and Marie Hoare, began transmitting Chicago television channel WGN-TV via satellite to the country. The team has not won the World Series since 1908. However, the team’s record in 2016 was the best in baseball, and they finished 17.5 games ahead of their nearest division rival, the St. Louis Cardinals.

The local cuisine, beer, and accommodations are excellent and inexpensive. If you’re traveling on a budget, Belize is a good choice. Although hotels and motels are basic, most offer decent accommodations and affordable dining. A typical meal can cost between $5-$15.
